How to use the Database: 

The database has several options you can use to search for or find profiles to find local arts workers that you can collaborate with, who are open to mentorships and more. For example here's how you filter for a particular work area category:

1. Click 'Filter' on the banner at the top of the database below

2. Select a filter like "Work Areas" and contains "has any" or "exactly is" and select the option(s) that you would like to filter such as "Actor" or Technician". It will automatically sort and highlight the profiles that contains what you are searching.

3. Scroll through the profiles. When you see one you would like to learn more click anywhere on the person's photo or profile card and it will open a window for you to read their profile in more depth. 

4. When you are done you can either close your tab, add more filters or restart you can click the "trash" to remove the filter or add a new one. 

If you already know who or what you are looking for you can also use the looking glass to search on the right hand side of the window.

FAQ

How can I update my profile? 

Send us an email with your name and information you would like to update and we will change that for you. 

What if there isn't a category that I would like to be listed under? 

In the Google Form to submit you can either add it in the "Anything Else?" section or in the other section under that category and we will add it. 

How can I contact someone who I would like to work with, ask to audition or collaborate on a project? 

As long as it is for a paid gig you can reach out to anyone via the different options they have posted. We do recommend you indicate in your outreach email that you found them on OAD and indicate what you are offering (artistic and pay wise) so that they can make an informed response to your email. 

Can I post my profile here if I split my time between Ottawa and another city? 

Yes, if you can please indicate that in your biography so that people know that you are not always in town but are still looking to connect with people to make local projects as well. 

What if I move and I am no longer in Ottawa? 

We ask that if you are no longer in Ottawa and planning on working in the Ottawa-Gatineau area that you email us admin@ottawaartsdatabase.com and we will remove your name from the database. If you come back, no worries, we can re-add you to the database with your updated profile. 

Can I submit my profile in French? 

Yes! While right now this website and resource is only in English we are looking for another volunteer who can support us in making this website available in French as well. We will submit all postings in the language that it is submitted. Let us know if you can support us with translations!
